研究猴痘病毒对雌兔和雄兔的致病差异。将猴痘病毒(Monkeypox Virus,MPXV)分别感染雌兔和雄兔,监测兔子的体重、体温和临床症状,检测MPXV在雌兔与雄兔各组织脏器中的分布,并通过病理切片观察皮肤组织的病理学变化。雌兔和雄兔感染MPXV后均会出现体温升高、体重下降和皮肤皮疹,但与雄兔相比,雌兔体温升高幅度更大、持续时间更长、体重下降幅度更大、皮疹范围更广及皮肤组织病变更严重。MPXV可感染雌兔和雄兔,且对雌兔致病性更强。
Abstract:This study investigated the differences in pathogenicity of monkeypox virus(MPXV) between femaleand male rabbits. Female and male rabbits were infected with MPXV, and clinical parameters including bodyweight, body temperature, and clinical symptoms were monitored. Viral loads in various organs were assessed,and pathological changes in skin tissue were examined by hematoxylin and eosin(H&E) staining. FollowingMPXV infection, both female and male rabbits exhibited elevated body temperature, weight loss, and skinrashes. However, female rabbits showed a greater and more prolonged increase in body temperature, morepronounced weight loss, broader rash distribution, and more severe skin pathology compared to male rabbits.These findings indicate that MPXV can infect both sexes but exhibits greater pathogenicity in female rabbits.
