Abstract：Human herpesvirus type 6(HHV-6)can transactivate the promoter of human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)and accelerate cytopathogenic effects in HIV infected human T cells. A large 22.25kb fragment B70 of HHV-6 showed high transactivity in vitro. In this study, we demonstrated that 3 subfragments of B70 can transactivate the HIV promoter in cotransfected CV-1 cells. All these subfragments can not transactivate HIV-LTR structure containing a deleted or mutated enhancer. These subfragments can work together to increase the HIV-LTR directed Luc gene expression dramatically.
